Denying PMs to edit other projects

Hello NG.

I have a permission problem.
We use MSP Server 2003 and have changed the standard permissions.

PM has only one category which allowes him to see only the projects he
manages. This works fine until the PM has been assigned to another project
which is not managed by him. Then he can also see and edit this project.
This should not be possible. That he can see it in PWA is ok and needed for
the timesheet, but he should not be able to edit it.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this issue?

I already tried to add the PM to the TM group also. This group includes the
category where a TM can only see projects he is TM in. And in the group
permissions the "Open" and "Save" check marks are not set (Neither in the
category). But even if a PM has this group also he can still open and edit
other PMs projects.
I have the impression, that when a PM is allowed to open and save projects
in one categorie they can change each project they see, not matter in which
other group or categorie it is allowed.

Every answer would be helpful.

Thank you
Sylvia

Hi Chris.

It is as you wrote.
The PMs category only has "view projects I manage".
Nothing else.

He still can edit projects which he is team member in.

Hi

If you only have one category then that category has "view projects in which
I am a team member" selected... this would explain your situation

The category should only have View Project that I Manage" selected

Excuse me if the security rules are worded slightly differently I dont have
project server infront of me at the moment

Hope that helps

Thank you Dale.
That helped.
I didn't think about combining the two categories in one group.
