Design Template Font

I have a problem changing the font in the slide master for a design template.
The original has a dark blue background with a white, bold, Trebuchet MS
font. When I reverse the colors (white background / dark blue font), the
font has a shadow, but the shadow option is not selected for the font. How
can I get rid of the shadow?

There are two 'shadows' options in powerpoint

One is purely for 'fonts' (it's on the fonts toolbar/menu)

The other can be applied to any object (it's on the 'draw' menu)

Which one is your slide master using?
