Desktop icons and their appearance

I was rearranging icons on my desktop and managed to highlight (permanently)
all of them by mistake. The text box below each icon is shaded in navy,
giving the impression all icons are selected.

This isn't a feature of Microsoft Office. You should ask in the group
for your operating system. But since you are here Press WinKey+Pause,
click Advanced, Performance Settings, Visual Effects, and tick the box
for "Use drop shadows......"
