What I gave you was an export.
It does not agree entirely with what you see in Regedit.
Export yours and see if it matches.
Yes...Checking off (unchecking or are we talking a different
language?) in TweakUI reverts to ShellNew without the - entry. That is
expected.
What about the templates?
Do they exist?

Thank you for your reply.
I can verify I get the same entries in the registry, except my "FileName"
appears without quotes. I put in the quotes with no change. I even tried
TweakUI and Iget the ShellNew- entry. Checking off in TweakUI reverts to
ShellNew without the - entry.
Unfortunately, the templates are still not showing up on the NEW menu from
the desktop.

I have a Win98 SE computer with Office XP.
I had a couple disabled with TweakUI (word,powerpoint)
Here are the Registry changes when I enabled those.
=============================
Registry COMPARISON

Comparing files before.reg and after.reg
****** before.reg
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.doc\Word.Document.8\ShellNew-]
"FileName"="winword8.doc"
****** after.reg
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.doc\Word.Document.8\ShellNew]
"FileName"="winword8.doc"
******
****** before.reg
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.ppt\PowerPoint.Show.8\ShellNew-]
"FileName"="pwrpnt10.pot"
****** after.reg
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.ppt\PowerPoint.Show.8\ShellNew]
"FileName"="pwrpnt10.pot"

The two templates, winword8.doc and pwrpnt10.pot, are in
C:\Windows\ShellNew

When I right-click on the desktop, point to New..., there used to be
office
document short cuts for Office XP (word, powerpoint, access, excel) but
they
are not in the list anymore.
I tried a repair of Office, as well as a complete uninstall and
re-install,
but they just won't show up.
Ironically, they are showing up in the list of TweakUI on the "New" tab,
but
checking or unchecking doesn't make any real difference, even after a
reboot
of my Windows 98SE machine.
Is there something in the registry I can verify?
Thanks.
