desperate! save as selects the name of any document the cursor pas

In Word 2002...when I choose save as and open a new folder to place document
in I automatically loose the original name of the document which is replaced
by the name of any document I pass my cursor over.

In Windows Explorer, under Tools, Folder Options, have you selected the
Single-Click option. If you clear that option, I think it will resolve your
problem.

Didn't try this solution myself because the selection error never occured in
the original folder we were in, only when selecting new folders....but this
worked immediately and saved my partner from a dissertation nightmare!!
