DESPERATELY need help with a footer!

Martha

I have a 24 page document that I'm adding a footer to.
However, I need the footer to start number the pages at 5
instead of 1.

Can this be done? When I do whatever I can think of
doing, when I send it to print, word repaginates the
document and then puts some strange numbers on the page
along with my footer - like I will get 242424 on the
document. This is driving me crazy!

This should be simple

View > header & footer
Switch to footer
From the header/footer toolbar - insert page number
From the same toolbar > format page number - start from 5.

Alternatively (but not if you have set the numbering to start from 5) insert
a couple of fields (using CTRL+F9 to set the field boundaries)

{={Page} + 5}

Alt +F9 to toggle the display - F9 to update.
