I have to paste different content in each cell of the same column. each time
I paste I have to change to match destination format. how can I do it that I
should not have to change. it should automatically paste to match the
destination format in the whole column?

What application and what version are you using? What is the source of your
copy? The same application? Another application?

Thank You for your reply.I am using Excel 2002. The file is a Microsoft
Excel Worksheet. I am copying from a website.

I can't replicate this on my computer (Excel 2007), if I use the Paste
Options and it controls all of the pasted data. Note I'm copying/pasting an
entire column, not copy/pasting cell-by-cell. If using the latter then I'd
expect to need to use the Paste Options each time since each is a separate
transaction. Have you tried using Edit/Paste Special and pasting as Text or
any of the other formats?

Each cell has a different content so have to copy/paste each separately. I
thought there is a way to format the whole column before or after pasting.

If what you want to do is clear the formats then on the Home tab, in the
Editing group, click Clear, and then click Formats. Then you can format the
column however you want.

If there are several formats you need to apply you can create a few Cell
Styles which may make formatting faster.

You can do it after. Select the first column, copy, select the target
column, Paste Special, select Format.
