development plans - "follow ups" and "tasks"?

Hi

Can anyone tell me if there are plans in development to either; make more
use of Follow up flags, or provide better integration with Tasks?
.....and of course, when these may be released? This is an important area of
our day to day work.
The current functionality doesn't make it easy to properly link items (other
than manually making the connection).
