Diagram a FP web site

Mike Berger

I'm a somewhat informed newbie to FrontPage, experienced in VB though. I'm
working on a team on a FrontPage website that I do most of the complex ASP/
ADO coding. My question is, do most of you experienced web site
architects/developers create any sort of map to diagram the pages and
expected navigation ? Does FP offer this, or any opinions about good third
party applicaitons ? We've been doing mostly "shoot from the hip and get it
out" coding, and its my opinion that a site map will eventually become
necessary to avoid mass confusion and keep us on the same page...

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike: FP has an excellent "navigation view" which shows total structure
of web in genealogical tree type. You can drag page(s) wherever you want and
FP will update site.

Hi, Mike,

If this site map is for internal use (not for posting on your Web site),
there are two things you can do.

There is a navigation feature in FrontPage, but it doesn't diagram the site
for you. You have to drag and drop the pages onto the Navigation Pane in
the order that you want them to appear. However, you could do this for easy
access within the project, and because it's stored with the Web site, anyone
who opens the Web site project would be able to see it an modify it as
necessary.

Also, Visio is a great tool for visually diagramming a Web site. Visio will
take any Web site and diagram it (according to the number of levels that you
specify) exactly as it appears on the Internet.

If you want a page that diagrams this for posting on your Web site, you
might try microsoft.public.frontpage.addins to see if someone has developed
a tool that will do this for your FrontPage Web site.
