Dial up delay

Sometimes my modem take l little bit longer to connect on
a dail up line. I am talking of about 8 to 10 seconds and
then Outlook hangs up prematurely. Is there a delay option
I can increase to solve this problem?

The best way, in my opinion, to avoid this is to connect to the Internet
prior to starting Outlook.
