Diff marks in margin ONLY?

Hi -

How can I compare two documents and see/print a "Final" version
that has those margin diff marks on lines changed but NOT show
the insertions/deletions in the paragraphs? In other words,
my doc reviewers want to see diff marks that something changed
without the text getting all mangled showing both the newly
inserted words and the deleted words?

I know how to get diff marks turned on in the "outside" margins,
but when I "accept" the changes, the diff marks disappear.

I learned about "Legal Black Lines" but again I can only get
the black lines (diff marks) to appear when the compare/changes
also appear.

Hopefully I've made myself clear what I'm trying to do. As I
recall, Framemaker did this feature real easy.

Thanks much!
Ed

You can adjust your preferences for how tracked changes will appear by
going to Tools/Options.../Track Changes. I believe that the 2 latest
versions of Word may be missing the option for disabling strikethrough
for delections and this change would have to made through a macro.

As far as accepting changes goes, do not accept the changes if you
still want to see the tracked changes. The latest version of World will
allow you to choose between 4 views: Final Showing Markup, Final,
Original Showing Markup, and Original. This will allow you to switch
back and forth without having to accept the changes.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Track changes information is stored in the
document and this information can be resurrected after accepting
changes, which means that a customer who was given a modified proposal
can dig up the old eidts. Microsoft has a free tool that will remove
that hidden information called "Office 2003/XP Add-in: Remove Hidden
Data."
