Different fields

Hi,

We have to use specific fields in Microsoft Project due to
specific requirements from our financial system. However,
our sister companies also have requirements which may
differ from us. For example, we may use text15 for
something and they use it for something else. On MSP
stand alone, we can work around this issue because we are
not working with the same files, however, if we go with
the MSP professional (enterprise version), how can we
handle this situation? Since it will be one schedule
posted on the web, am I to assume that all our branches
should be using the same fields?

Thanks,

Natalia

Well, you are facing the exact meaning of EPM: Entreprise
Project Management. A Project mgt solution that forces
inviduals to work the same way, and in the same direction.
So if the Project director decides that text field 15 is
the name of the PM, it will be enfoirced to all of us....

That is actually the beauty of EPM: Consistent planning &
tracking => consistent results, reports and analysis.

The answer is "it depends." What it depends on is your company's
requirements. This is an impossible to answer question in absence of that
knowledge, so take any advice you get here, with a grain of salt.
