Differing representations of 100% complete tasks

Project Web Access and Project Professional having a
difference of opinion regarding completed tasks:

We'll open a project in Project - use Task Information to
update a project task to 100% complete. Save and republish
the project.

We'll go into PWA - we'll look at Task view - see that the
task we just updated to 100% complete does not have the
little checkmark of "doneness" but in fact has the
little ! indicating a message that the task is late.

Then, we'll look at this same project in Project view
(PWA) and see various views acknowledging that the task is
indeed 100% complete.

Any ideas on why this is?

Thanks,

When you open a project in Microsoft Project Professional, and then manually
update a task as 100% complete, you must republish the assignments in the
project. To do so, complete the following steps:

1. Select the task you manually updated
2. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments
3. Choose "Selected items" from the Republish assigments for pick list as
the top of the dialog
4. Check the "Overwrite actual work entered by resources" option
5. Click the OK button

Completing the above steps will "push" the updated task status information
to the timesheet of each user assigned to the selected task. Hope this
helps.
