Digest Authentication and Project Server 2007

I have project server 2007 installed and working on the local LAN using
digest authentication, but when I publish it on the internet I receive a
username and password prompt but cannot get the public web site to come up.
Does Project Server 2007 have any special requirements and or does it work
with Digest authentication across the internet?
