digital photos

I routinely make powerpoint presentations with a large number of digital
photos. Is there an easier way to send my digital photos to Powerpoint
slides other than manually (create new slide...insert picture from
file...choose photo...insert photo...resize photo)? I am using Powerpoint
2002 and would be willing to upgrade or purchase a plug-in if I could get
this functionality. Thanks.
