Hi.
What the heck is this about and what do I have to do in
order to keep this from happening in the future?
They're opening the database with Access 2003 or 2007, which automatically
sets Macro Security to medium. Tell them to scan all incoming database
files with an antivirus scanner (including yours), then:
1.) Set the Macro Security to low; or
2.) If they have Access 2007, place the database file in the "Trusted"
directory using the Trust Center; or
3.) If you have Access 2003 or 2007, get a digital certificate, use it to
sign your database applications, and then send a copy of the digital
certificate to your users, who must trust it on their workstations.
Digital certificates aren't cheap, so I'd advise using one of the other two
alternatives unless your database users are willing to foot the bill. If
that's the case, please let me know, and I'll post some links to Web pages
with information about digital certificates.
HTH.
