Digitally Sign Document

Hi All,

I would like to digitally sign Microsoft Word documents so that people
know that it was me that sent them and that they haven't been altered.
Can anyone tell me how I go about doing this? I read through some of
the Word help files and saw references to signing macros and whatnot
but this isn't really what I'm looking for - the documents won't
contain macros. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kris

Thanks for the response Bob. As I mentioned, I already had a look at
the help files in Word but perhaps I didn't look hard enough.

Not sure if I'm on the right track or not, but from what I've managed
to gather so far, you need to purchase different types of certificate
depending on your usage. Examples of a few of the sites that I found
are shown below. Based on this, I guess the GeoTrust one would be what
I'm after. Am I on the right track?

One thing I'm still very confused about is the technical difference
between the different types of certificate. From my reading I
understand that what I'm after is called a Code Signing Certificate but
I have tested and used the "email only" type of certificate on a Word
document and it seems to work just fine. The best answer that I have
been able to get so far is that, although you can do that, you will be
violating the end user agreement.

If that is what you actually want. I don't use digital signing, just
trying to point you to where you what you were asking about. Is there a
truly a need for this "security", or is it something that "sounds like
it would be a good idea"? No need to answer, just a consideration.
