I'm trying to do my final on powerpoint and one of the things we're being
graded on is "build effects with dimming on bulleted items" meaning, each
bullet is supposed to dim when the other appears. I can't seem to do this
correctly. please help

Which version of PowerPoint do you have? With 2002 or 2003 you animate your
bulleted textbox like you normally do, then with the Custom Animation
taskpane open, click the dropdown arrow next to that animation and click
"Effect Options", click the "Effect" TAB, and change the "After Animation"
option to the dimmed color you want.

Use Bill's very clear explaination . You might want to set it up so that the
last item in the list doesnt dim. This avoids a double click to
1 dim the last item
2 advance the slide

To do this expand the entry in custom animation (double arrow below and
left) ctrl click all but the last item and proceed as Bill says.
