How do I complete installation of the "dierct x" update from the Windows
Update Website? I've downloaded the update a number of times unsuccessfully,
and Microsoft doesn't provide assistance for Windows Millenium any more.
Would appreciate any input.

I'd suggest reposting your question in a Windows newsgroup on this site. The
webpage can be confusing - this is the first group of many alphabetically, but
it refers to the database software Microsoft Access, not "computer access".

Though the groups are hosted by Microsoft, the vast bulk of the folks who
answer are not Microsoft employees but rather volunteers, so you should be
able to find someone in a Windows group who will be able to point you the
right direction.
