Disable Automatic Refresh in Excel Export

Can anyone help me understand exactly what the Disable Automatic Refresh option when Portfolio Analyzer exports to Excel does? It states on the dialog box entitled Query Refresh

If you trust the source of this workbook, you can enable automatic refresh. If you disbale automatic refresh, you can later refresh queries manually, if you are satisfied that the queries are safe

But I am struggling to see any difference between what happens if I select either of the options available. I think I understand what is meant to happen but in practice I am just not seeing it

If I select to Disable Automatic Refresh, the data in Excel will not change until I change one of the Pivot table field list parameters, i.e. I selectrto drill doiwn into Q1 and Q2, at which point it references the Cube automatically and imports the latest data. I can save the file as a new spreadsheet, close and reopen, but as soon as I change a parameter it imports the latest data. This seems to be exactly the the same behaviour as if I enable automatic refreash

I also notice that some of the Pivot Table options in Excel are locked out so that I cannot change/remove the data source - so I would assume that this is by design

Can other users replicate this? Can anyone explain when/how the options differ

What can I do if I want to take a snapshot of the information at the point of the export to excel ? The only way I can see at the minute is to copy the table and using Paste Special, paste in just the values. This is fine but I cannot then drill up or down in my information, it is just a table!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank

Ji
