I have a Word document with a Date field which auto-updates the instant the
document is opened. Is it possible to disable the update and/or lock the
field so that the field never updates?
I know I could, say, set the system date back to the original date, open the
document, lock the field, save the document, close it, and set the system
date back, but I'm researching this for a law firm client of mine and they
can't afford to be viewed as misrepresenting themselves in any way -- they
need the original date on the document, unmodified.
Unfortunately they recevied this from the opposing firm, and therefore have
no control over the original document -- they can't just ask that the
document be re-created without the Date field.
Does anyone know a way around this? Thanks in advance for any help.
