Disable field after entry

Does anyone know of a way to disable a field after data has been entered.

I am currenly using Enterprise number 3 for an Estimate field. It is
showing perfectly on PWA but once the user enters their estimate I would like
for it to go read only. Unchecking the Allow Updates via published fields is
not feasible.

Any ideas or better ways to handle estimates?

You can create an interface with a macro that writes to an enterprise custom
task field - dont name the field and it wont come up to be modified directly
through project (password protect the macro)

Create another enterprise custom field that reads the result

This would be a formula and therefore can not be modified through the end user

The only way to add an entry or modify the entry is through the macro (which
is password protected)

This is long winded but the only way I know of to protect a custom field value

Someone else may have something far simpler (i would be as keen as yourelf
to know it)

Hope this helps some
