Disable print notifications

Hi,

i wanted to see if there is a way to disable on the server print
confirmations being sent to the client, either by a server setting or a gpo,
does anyone know of a way to do that? Also, i noticed that when the
printserver went down due to a hardware failure all of the connected clients
became very slow and the ms office apps would also be really slow or crash,
has anyone seen this before?

thanks

Scott

Scott,

Look in the printer properties & see if you can turn them off.

Secondly, remove the system tray icon from startup possibly from the registry unless you
can also do it from the above properties, but always best to remove from startup too

Start > Settings > Printers
File > Server Properties > Advanced tab > Deselect "Show informational
notifications..." as appropriate should sort out your first question.

Default printer being unavailable is what causes the problem. Either
make a local printer the default, or keep the print server working.
