"Disable Send/Receive" button

K

Ken Isaacson

Office Outlook 2007, SP1

On one of my computers, I was able to customize a button for "Disable
Scheduled Send/Receive," but now I can't remember how I found it. I'm trying
to customize the same for my notebook.

Online searches say that I can find that command under
Tool>Send/Receive>Send/Receive Settings, but the only choices I find there
are "Define Send/Receive Groups" and "Show Progress."

Where's the "Disable Scheduled Send/Receive" command?

Thanks!

Robert,

Thanks, but that's not the "button" I'd previously found. The best way I can
describe it is that one of the more "common" buttons that has commands
"nested" in it has a choice that simply says "Disable Scheduled
Send/Receive." I believe it "was" the "Send/Receive" button that has the
little down arrow on it. Clicking that dropped down a bunch of commands,
among them "Send/Receive Settings." Clicking that gave you "Define
Send/Receive Settings" "Show Progress" AND "Disable Scheduled Send/Receive"

But my "Send/Receive" button now longer clicks all the way down to
"Disable." I click through to just "Define" and "Show."

I'd been able to actually get a customized "one-click" button for "Disable,"
by going to "Tools>Customize" and while the customize dialog was open, I
could click the "Send/Receive" button to show "S/R Settings," and then click
that to reveal "Disable Scheduled S/R," and I could drag that "Disable"
button to the toolbar.

But now I can't find the simple button for Disable. (The solution you gave
me, which of course works, requires you to open up a dialog box, uncheck or
check a box, and then close out, instead of just pushing a button on the
toolbar.)

Many thanks!

Diane,

Unfortunately, it's not there. I've been to that area by way of
Tools>Cutomize>Command Tab>Categories: Tools as well. There is simply _no_
"Disable Scheduled Send/Receive command there, either on its own, or nested
inside the "Send/Receive" button that's found there.

I'm starting to think I have to unistall and reinstall. (I ran Office
Diagnostics already, and that did't fix anything.)

Any additional suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Diane,

Thanks for taking the time to try and help. I do appreciate it.

The command doesn't appear as shown in that screen shot. And, yes, I did try
resetting the toolbar.

I finally solved the problem by going to Control Panel>Uninstall or Change
Program, and choosing to repair MS Office. (I had previously tried the
Help>Office Diagnostics in OL itself, with no effect.

After doing the repair, the "Disable Scheduled Send/Receive" command is
again available by way of Tools>Customize>Command Tab>Categories: Tools, and
I was able to customize my toolbar to place that button where I wanted it.

Thanks again for everyone's efforts.
