disable the Automatically changing dates

T

Tom Bradstreet

I have a document that has the date field set to automatically update. Is
there any way to disable this feature so I can see the date the document was
actually created? MS Word 2003, windows xp pro

Thanks
Tom

That field would have no bearing on the "date the document was created".
That "date" is only a convienient method of putting the current date

You can easily modify the Date field and change it to the CreateDate
field as Bob described in his post.

Here are some additional instructions should you need them:

- Press Alt + F9 to toggle the field codes
- Modify the DATE field so it reads CREATEDATE
- Press Alt + F9 to toggle off the field codes
- Right-click the field and select "Update Field"

assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
