Disabled identies when importing Groove account

Frank Spuls

Hi,

I tried to import a Groove account from another computer and the import
seems succesful but the new identity is immediately disabled:

The following identities have been disabled due to device/identity policy:
<Identity name>

The computer is running W28 and Office 2007 and is not part of a domain.

Thanks for your valuable feedback!

Frank

You're using Windows 2008 with Groove client installed? Is it x64 or
x86? See http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/groove/HA101945381033.aspx
for Groove requirements and "gotchas". Also, in the global options ->
preferences -> account tab there are your registered computers.
Further, if it is a workspace, under the workspace properties, you have
a tick box entitled "Download automatically onto all my computers" which
by default is cleared.

Cheers,

Justin

Hi Justin,

Thanks for your quick reply. I am using the X64 version of W28.

Best regards,

Probably will have limited capabilities then as you're trying to run a
client based program on a server operating system and also you're
running a 64 bit version of that, when most of the functionality is
based on x86 client framework...

Out of curiousity, why are you using 2008 as a client based OS?

Hi Franck,

The "disabled" message is typically for Groove identities managed wthin
a Groove domain.
For security reasons (I suppose)the domain must have been configured not
to accept unmanaged devices.
You should apply a registry key in order to have your account enabled on
the new device. Your Groove domain administrator should be able to
provide it to you. (downloadable from the domain's admin pane "device
policies")

Hope this helps :)
