Disabling auto-numbering in headings when converting PDF to Word

I am converting a PDF to a Word document. The document contains headings that begin with numbers that pertain to a software version, not a heading number. They appear fine in Acrobat, but in the exported Word file, they are converted to heading numbers (and automatically changed to a different number). Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
