Disabling Create a new task link on TASKS page

The New Project Task permission allows users to access the Create a New Task
link in the sidepane of the View My Tasks page. If you want to disable this
feature for everyone in your system, do the following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Server configuration
3. Scroll to the Tasks section of the Permissions data grid
4. Set the New Project Task permission to Deny
5. Click the Save Changes button

If you wish to disable this permission only for a particular group of users,
modify the pertinent Group in PWA and set the New Project Task permission to
Not Allowed (neither Allow or Deny is selected). Hope this helps.

Dale,
When I made these changes I still see the link on the task page. Is there
something else that has to be done in order for the change to take effect?

Did you make the changes at the global level, as detailed in my answer
below? If so, that should have removed the link for everyone. If you did
not make the changes as I detailed below, then you will need to describe in
detail what you did exactly. Let us know.

Yes I followed your instructions to made the change to the global settings
but when I went to the task page I still see the link. We are using Project
2003 I don't know if that makes a difference, I know some of the questions
are for Project 2007.

Mighty odd. At the time we wrote our Administering book for Project Server
2003, setting the "New Project Task" permission to Deny removed it from the
sidepane on the left side of the View My Tasks page. After SP2a, this
apparently this no longer removes the link. However, if you click the
"Create a new task" link, you will see that you are directed to the Manage
My To-Do Lists page. This makes no sense. Can you live with that?
