Disabling Outlook

B

Bud

I have installed an old version of MS Office and must
have made a mistake in the configuration.
I do NOT want to use Outlook as I am very happy with the
ISP email program. (Earthlink)
So far all I have gotten from the MS help is run in
circules.
Can anyone tell me how to disable MS Outlook?

Earthlink, as far as I know, doesn't have a proprietary mail client. Are you
trying to use Outlook Express?

You don't need to do anything with it other than going to control panel,
internet options, programs, and set the default mail client to whatever you
want (that's in there).

Now, now, play nice. How would you feel if someone replied to a question of
yours like that?

Also, it isn't necessary to uninstall Outlook just because someone doesn't
want to use it.

Yes, they do. It's called Total Access. As long as the OP realizes that any
mail saved with this program will not ever be able to be transferred to any
other mail program, I guess everybody likes what they like. <g>

Hmmm- I thought Total Access was their general client (dialer, personalized
browser, toolbar, etc)- but didn't include a mail client - just used Outlook
or OE.

You're very welcome.

Office however does appear there, and if you select it will give you to
options of Remove/Repair/Change. You can change your Office installation
to not include Outlook. Alternatively, if you're running WXP SP1 or 2,
you'll have the option of setting another program than Outlook as your
default e-mail program.
