Disapearing, reappearing text

How can I create an object/link/icon in my presentation that people can place
thier curser over and have information appear but then have it disappear when
they remove thier curser (sort of like when you let your curser sit over the
volume icon in the bottom right corner of the Windows tool bar and a box/tag
appears and says that your volume is muted)? Is this possible and if so, is
there a limit on the number of character that can appear in the box/tag?

Not sure of the character limit, but I'd guess 255.
