disappearing document

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) I prepare a WORD document. Then I click on Toolbox and the document disappears. This didn't use to happen.....
Why is it happened? How do I get my document to stay on the screen?

You have not told us which updates you have applied to OS X and MS Office.
Ensure you are fully updated.
