Disappearing emails Outlook 2003

Although I cannot remember changing or installing anything 6 days ago which may
have impacted Outlook 2003, nonetheless I now have a problem which other people
have reported. I am running Outlook 2003 SP1 on XP PRo SP2.

I am connected to a POP3 server with my ISP and deliver mail to a PST file. I
can "see" the Outlook summary messages in the status bar at the bottom right
showing I am "receiving" mail. But the mail does not show up in any folders.
The mail has apparently completely disappeared.

I have done the following:

(1) Turned off anti-virus
(2) Deleted all rules
(3) Unchecked any add-ins
(4) Reset the views to default
(4) Sent myself an email with a unique word and carried out an advanced
search (nothing found).
(5) Run Scanpst.exe on the PST file (it found errors sand repaired them)
(6) Archived my Inbox and reduced messages from 1713 to 631
(7) Turned on Logging and checked the OPMLog.log (Outlook checks"blobs" Ok
and downloads)

I have had to change my settings so that Outlook now at least leaves a copy of
the email on the ISP server so I can at least get to them.

I am at a loss as to why Outlook is now receiving emails and "losing" them.

TIA

Mal
