Disappearing Ink Problem. It only occurs when

Hello Everyone

I am also victim of the disappearing ink problem, here's what I'm running
Tablet Pc 2005 on a Toshiba M200 512MB RAM 1.5GHZ
ONENOTE 2003 SP2 with memory HOTFIX KB895953
AVG ANTI-VIRUS, MSN MESSANGER, YAHOO MESSANGER, IE, OOo quickstarter,HP
PRINTER task monitor.

Today I encoutered this disapearing ink problem, and I didn't find much help
on it, so I started to fiddle around to see what was triggering the problem,
because it comes and goes. I have my onenote setup with all of my toolbars
open, and arranged on the sides and at the top of the writting area below the
menu bar.
Now, HERE'S THE FUNNY PART, when u open the "Writting and Drawing Tools"
you'll notice that there are two pen icons, one with solid black line, the
other pen with a black shading to white line. Only when I use the pen with
the black to white shading line does this happen. When u hover over this pen
with your mouse/pointer, it says "Use Pen as Pointer" (some one please tell
me why that tool neccesary). Also note that when u use this tool, by default
it also activates the "Pen" tool (the pen with the solid black line).

This all happened when I was trying t to use the numbering feature on my
written notes. I saw this in one of the "OneNote Tour" videos, but it
doesn't quite work like that, anyways that's for an other post. Anyhow after
I kept trying to do this I used the "pen" tool, then I switched to the "Use
Pen as Pointer" tool and that's when it started happening. Can someone tell
me what that tool is for, they both write the same, to me at least. Thank you

That tool is intended to let you put temporary notes or call-outs on a
page while you're displaying your notes in a shared or projected
environment. By design whatever is written is not permanent.

There's a feature in PowerPoint that behaves in exactly the same way.
While displaying a slideshow, you can draw on the screen and highlight or
circle, etc. certain bullets on your slide. When you move to the next
slide, those temporary annotations are gone, and they are not saved as
part of the content of the slide.

The short answer to your problem is to not use that tool when you are
writing notes. You can use Tools | Customize to remove that button from
the toolbar so that it's not available for use.

Thank you Erik, as I was reading thru this discussion group, I came accross
that exact same enswer, it might have even been your self. But thank you
anyways for the quick response, I really like the fact that someone can
enswer this quick to a problem one may have, keep up the good work all of you.

I also posted my findings, so that people come looking for a "fix" they can
easily find that it's not a problem but a feature of OneNote,
