Disappearing pictures

I have an email newsletter that is basically a table in word. I insert a graphic into a cell, such as a company logo and when I email it sometime all that the recipient gets is an X or a blank place holder. What's going on?

I have also found the problem being caused by copying and
pasting. I suggest using Insert, Picture, From File as
that has worked for me in the past.
