For some months now i have had difficulty when inserting pictures into word
Documents. They Disappear but can be seen in preview window. Mlws it hard to
re-arrange them. Now Publisher is doing the same thing except the pictures
will not even show in the preview pane. These are jpg photos , jpg art,
logos etc mainly but I also Use Tiff and Gif pictures. Can any one give me a
heads up on this please?
Thanks

Always helps if you say up front what version of Word you're asking
about. That way the helpers here won't have to guess. Assuming you
have Word 2003 or earlier, a few things to try:
1. In Word, if you're working in Normal view, then switch to Print
Layout view (View | Print Layout), because objects that are formatted as
"float over text" (Word 97) or as something other than "inline with
text" (Word 2000, 2002, and 2003) are not visible in Normal view.
2. In Word, click on Tools | Options | View tab | check the
"Drawings" box and uncheck the "Picture placeholders" box | Print tab |
check the "Drawing objects" box | OK.
3. If neither of the previous suggestions fixes the problem, then
try reducing or turning off hardware acceleration in Start | Control
Panel | Display | Settings | Advanced | Troubleshoot. If this fixes the
problem, then you might want to check the website of the manufacturer of
your video card/graphics adapter to see if there is an updated driver
available.

OK Sorry I am not used to this Forum bit yet but if todays response is
anything to go by "Wow" I may become a regular.

Office 2003 includes Word 2003 & Publisher 2002

Garfield -n- Odie you hit the spot with your second set of instructions.
have not pursued it to conclusion yet as I was not working in Word at the
moment. i will soon do so however and confirm better results if possible. I
am about to go back to my project in Publisher so will let you know if
similar actions result in similar immediate success.

Thanks heaps.
