Disappearing Quick Access Toolbar

The customized Quick Access Toolbar disappears after one day. A search did
not find either .QAT or .RibbonX files. The OS. What's happening?

What version of Windows are you using?

Are you using a fixed location or a roaming profile (the .QAT files don't travel).

Windows XP SP3. This is a laptop that was originally configured by someone
else. The profile is roaming.

Unless you've installed the hotfix from this article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958062/en-us?FR=1
or are using a login script to move the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) isn't supported in roaming profiles.
