Disappointed that I can't get a reply to my problem

Using Word2002 SP-2, when I attempt to use the Outlook/address book/contacts
for name/address for an envelope, I get the Don't send error/send error
screen and cannot continue with the address book lookup/envelope printing.

Any help provided would be greatly appreciated.

I check these newsgroups everyday and I have not previously seen a message
from you.

The "Don't send error/send error" screen that you mention is not one with
which I am familiar. Are you sure that is what it says.

Do you have the full version of Outlook or Outlook Express? You must have
the full version and it must be set as the default mail client.

As Doug, I don't recall having seen a question from you before. But this
sounds like Word is crashing and recovering, which means you're getting an IPF
or GPF - some kind of conflict.

I'm not very good with the Address Book interface-to-Outlook stuff, but I can
make one suggestion for you to try:

Hold down CTRL when you start Word from a Word icon. This will start it in
Safe Mode, so things may look a bit odd. Does the problem persist? If it does
not, then we know the problem is within Word. If it does, then the problem is
most likely outside of Word...

Hi Doug.

I'm using outlook 2002 and it is set as the default.

I'm sure you have seen this type of error. It's not specific to Word, it
comes up every time a program bombs out and Microsoft requests you
automatically send info about the problem. You have the option to "Send" or
"Don't send".

Anyway, this is my third post about this problem.

This is a standard error feedback message that occurs when an application
crashes. The problem is the crash, not the error message, which you can
disable (though disabling it will not cure the problem that caused the
crash).

I would start by attending to the issues at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm to see if they
effect an improvement.

I would also recommend that you clear up the mess the crashes will have left

That's interesting. And you have an open document on the screen? If not, start
a new document, then try again.

Which problem? That Word crashes, or that you can't access the menus?

Assuming you mean the crashing, then the next trouble-shooting step would
be to boot WINDOWS in Safe Mode, then test again. If inserting an address
works now, then you've narrowed the problem down to some kind of system
conflict.

I suggest you read this Knowledge Base Article, and if that doesn't lead
you to the solution, ask further in the word.application.errors
newsgroup, where there are specialists for these kinds of problems. Be
sure to tell them what you've already tried, with what results, and quote
the EXACT error message (if you click Details you should even be able to
copy the information, and can paste it into your message).
