Disconnect on close

S

Steve Frye

When I close my IE6 browser I get a window that asks me if I want to
disconnect from the internet.
This is a convenient thing, because I almost always do, so I simply click
"Yes". . . . Botta-Bing.

But when I close my OE6 program I never get that window. So now I have to
right click the icon in the systray and say "disconnect". And sometimes when
I forget to do that, the phone line gets tied up.

It's a small thing, but annoying.
Can I click some option that will let me get the disconnect window when
closing OE6?

Correction!!

Sorry, I kept saying OE6 when I meant Outlook.
I don't get the "disconnect" window when I close OUTLOOK.

Sorry, Russ. I thought the problem was generic and well-known and easily
fixed by a checkmarking a box somewhere.

Windows ME
Outlook 2000
Dial-up connection (56K PCTEL modem)
emial = POP3

Connection type refers to the setting you specified when you set up your
mail account. All of your versions are far too out of date for me to
troubleshoot. As I recall the only connection types in Outlook 2000 were
LAN, Third party dialer, or Phone Line. "Dial-up connection" is not a
setting you can specify.
In general, if you want Outlook to manage your connection, you must specify
"Phone Line" as your connection, then specify an automatic polling interval.
If you want Outlook to behave like IE, then configure it to use IE's dialer
and then use your OS settings to specify how that connection should behave.

Okay. I understand.
Thank you for at least replying, rather than ignoring this post because I'm
so out of date.

Happy new Year
