Ever since the early days on OneNote 2007 I have stored all my notebooks
on my 1Gid Maxtor network storage drive. for easy acess from all 3 of my
systems. Last week the drive went belly-up (luckily it was in warrnaty and
was replaced free of charge). I had been using the Technicle Preview of Office
2010 and had upgraded all my notebooks to OneNote 2010. Almost everything
was backed up to an external drive on my desktop.

I had recently created five new notebooks on my Tabletpc and they were synced
to the files on the network drive but had not yet been backed up to the external
backup drive. After the Network storage drive was replaced, I copied the
files from my external backup to the new network storage. When I fired up
my Tabletpc all my opened noebooks synced with the new Network drive with
the exception of the five newly created notebooks which will not sync because
they are not connected. They are not connected because they were nevered
restored having never been backed up before the crash.

Is there a way to get these notevooks onto my storage drive in order to be
able to sync them in the future?

Thanks,
Michae

Ok. I think all is ok now. At least so it appears. I found and copied the
missing notebooks from the OneNote automatic Notebook backup to my Network
storage and the shut down and reoped OneNote 2010 and all synced. All data
appears to be there.

I think it was luck not logic ;-)

A possible scenario in your case:

Backup version = oldest version = version #1
Network storage version = version #1 + delta1 = version #2
actual version in cache = version #2 + delta2 = version #3

If you now synch version #1 with version #3 (what possibly you have
done) the delta1 is lost (I assume, because I think Onenote "knows" that
delta1 has been synched to the network storage location in the past).

So I would have created "new" up to date notebooks by using Save As from
the actual version in the cache.

Anyone listening here knowing better ?
