I think Microsoft has tried to make Newsgroups safer by making a default
email address when using the web. I don't know how you would prevent
unscrupulous people from emailing posted email addresses for public
newsgroup.

What was disheartening to me is little over year ago Noel Paton MS-MVP whom
I greatly respect was helping me in Newsgroup when I received blank email
with attachment. I was advised not to open it of course. Person posted
responses on thread saying that I was abusive and bashed AOL users in
general. I blocked her email address which was domain related. I later
discovered post where this person was MS-MVP and I went to WhoIs record for
domain that matched blocked email address and found that name matched name
on detailed MS-MVP list. This person is evidently helpful to others from
numerous posts but does not like AOL users. I had run-in with her again
about month ago. This time friend (maybe it was her) bashed me.

I have great respect for MS-MVP's in general and have received invaluable
help. What is ironic is that I am AOL user because husband is employed by
international company and we get a discount. Company must also be valuable
Microsoft customer because employees got offers from Microsoft before
Christmas.
