"Disk or Network Error"

M

Michael Stark

We have a NT 4.0 Server that hosts a MS Access 2000
database file. There are 5 client machines that have
access to the database. Periodically, one or more of them
will get a "Disk or Network Error".

We already tried adding TMP and TEMP variables to both the
server and the workstations. This hasn't helped.

We are at a total loss. Please help ASAP!

Sincerely,

More than one? Then I'd suspect the hub/switch or the server. Or,
somewhat unlikely, interference with more than one network cable near
the hub/switch.

If the building has flaky power then put the hub/switch on a UPS.

It's also possible that you have a bad batch of network cards or flaky
network drivers.

For some more things see the Access Corruptions page at my website.
