Disk or Network Error

Hi,

We are having the same problem with two DBs. They are split into MDE front
end and MDB back end with a linked table.

The path to the linked table is c:\blah\blah\file.mdb .

So no network involved at present. They DBs were initially split for network
use, but have been put on one machine due to the recurring "Disk or Network
Error" message.

I have compacted and repaired backed but still occurs. The error general
appears when the MDE has been left open for a period without use. The hard
disk is not set to sleep. The error does sometimes occur when entering data.

Has anyone any idea why this may be happening and how to stop the problem?

You don't mention what version of Access you're using.

If it's Access 2000, the Network Error message could be symptomatic of a
fairly serious problem.

Thanks, its Access 2003 .

The problem also happens when the front end is not compiled as a mde.
