Display data by series in Excel chart

I am trying to display data by series on a bar chart and am unable to do it.
I have seen charts displayed in this way. All ideas welcomed

I not sure I made myself clear. When I produce a standard bar chart with a
number of seires of data, the graphical representation shows the following:

Series 1 item 1, Series 2, item 1 series 3 item etc

I want to display the series in series order i.e series 1 item 1,2,3,4 etc
and then series 2 item 1,2,3,4

Hope this clarifies my query

That's more clear. I think all you need to do is change plotting by rows to plotting by columns
(or vice versa). On the Chart menu, choose Source Data, and on the Data Range tab, select the
option which is not selected.
