Display other site's content on my site.

I would like to have a page on my site that shows content
from another site. Is that possible with Frontpage 2002?

If you have permission from the other site,
do it in an inline frame "iframe" in a page.

If you don't have permission be prepared
for some "unfriendly" e-mails.

You'll have explain in greater detail what you want to do.
For example, do you want to:

o Reisplay whole Web pages from antoher site?
o Extract information from pages at another site, and
then display it differently?
o Access a database or some other resource at another
site?

Also, are you sure you own the copyright to the other
site, or have the owner's permission?

I want to display some data (used cars for sale)from
another site just as it appears on their page, but with
my shared border and theme. That way I won't have to re-
enter the data on my page that they have already done. I
do have their permission do do this, if I can figure it
out.

The question "What platform does your website function
on" is asking you what server software is your host using
not what software are you using to develop your website.

This is important because if one uses a code solution
(Java, PHP, ASP or whatever), the host must be running
software that knows how to utilize your code.

You can put their page in a Frame Set on your site
(or for IE only) in and IFrame w/i a page

Certainly, the easiest solution is to display the other site's
Web pages in a frameset or an Inline frame. Then, however, the
other site's banner, links, signature, and copyright content
is going to appear.

Another approach is to write an ASP or ASP.NET page that
retrieves the other site's page, strips away any parts you
don't want, and then displays the part you *do* want inside
your page layout. But unless you're incredibly lucky, figuring
out which parts of a page to throw away and which parts to
keep can be very tricky.

If the content on the other site is coming from a database of
used cars, the best approach is to write a Web service that
runs on that site, accepts queries from yours, and responds
with any matching records. You can then format the returned
information any way you want.
