Display problem opening docs from removable media

D

Dominee

When I open multiple documents from a floppy or USB
drive, I often get a rectangular, horizontal patch of the
screen that displays a section of the previous
document,or a section of Windows Explorer, and refuses to
go away, even after I close the document in question.
This display problem only seems to occur with removable
media.

Hi Dominee,

First, it is not recommended that you work directly off removable
media. This is a leading cause of document corruption. It is
recommended you copy the files to your local drive first and copy them
back once the files are closed.

If you are using Word 2002 or Word 2003 then under Tools/Options/Save
you can turn on "Make local copy of files stored on network or
removable drives" to decrease the chance of document corruption. (I've
tried this option in both versions of Word and didn't encounter any
problems, however I'm still unwilling to try it with important files.
lol)

As for the display issue, are you using Word 2002? If so then this
