Hi, could someone tell me how can I show summary tasks name on <My Tasks>
Page? Right now, only 2 layers are displayed: "Project Name" and "Task name".

Actually, I have been told that it is impossible. But I even can not image
that a project only has 2 layers, without summary task displayed how can team
members know which block their tasks are belong to?

Thanks in advance,

JJin

As a previous user has already told you, you CANNOT display summary tasks on
the My Tasks page. If you have installed the Infrastructure Update,
however, users can float their mouse pointer over the task name and see a
drop down list indicator to the right of the task name. They can click the
drop down list and select the Task Path option. The system will open a
dialog that displays the complete task path, including all summary tasks.

If you have not installed the Infrastructure Update, I would strongly
suggest that you do this, along with the two latest Cumulative Updates as
well. Hope this helps.

Am currently evaluating Project Server 2007 and this fundamental missing
feature is why will not be purchasing this product.

And you are telling me this because why??? I don't work for Microsoft, nor
does anyone else in this community. We are all volunteers here.

Beyond that, I cannot believe that you would nix a purchase for that reason
alone. In the grand scheme of things, that seems a bit trivial. But then
again, it's your dime you will be spending, whether you purchase Project
Server 2007 or something else. :) Hope this helps.

As I do... :)

Also, as I was reminded earlier this week, a user can click on Goto | Tasks
Gantt view and see the Summary Tasks.

Consider adding the "Resource assignment" webpart to the "My tasks"
page. I did that, and now this page consists of the regular task
progress section, and at the bottom the user can see all (and only)
his assignment, inside their relative summary tasks (which is actually
the "Go to>Tasks Gantt view" that Ben mentioned in his post).

Hi, Dale,

We have that patch installed but our resources want to see their tasks at a
glance. It is reasonable specially in case of they usually have dozens of
tasks on hand.

Sorry for raising this issue again, because we really been annoyed with it.
Our PMs has to write summary tasks name in front of every sub-tasks name. it
is not only increased their workload also make the tasks name too long to
show up in limited space on PWA.

I heard that a patch for this issue is on the way, could you tell me its
available time?

Thanks in advance,

JJin

I don't believe that this is being addressed in a patch, but we are working
on a webpart that will give you this functionality.

Dale,
Thanks for your compliment, I still can not believe that after getting
so much help from this group I can also give back. But...
Unfortunately, it seems like the Resource assignment view is behaving
strangely sometimes, and not always showing Summary tasks (no matter
if you reach it through resource center or clicking the "Go to>task
gantt view" in My task page).
I can not determine when or why. Even the same project can be
presented correctly (with summary tasks) for one user and with no
summary tasks for another user.
This issues is also addressed here:

Do you or anyone else have a solution or a workaround for this bug?
Thanks,
Gil
