Displaying a value from a table column in a textbox

I tried to set "Default Value" property to a query that would return a value
from a table but it does not populate the textbox.

Any suggestion ? Thanks.

What exactly are you putting in this property field?
Have you prefixed it with the '=' sign?

I just put an SQL statement that would return a value. And I did not put '='
sign.
