Displaying e-mail and Calendar together?

How can I configure Outlook 2003 to show my folder list, my InBox, and
today's calendar on the same instance of Outlook? The Outlook Help instructs
you to open the calendar in a new window (which is a new instance of
Outlook). I would like to see them together in the same view, like I was
able to do in all previous versions of Outlook.

Not sure what you're looking for, but if you click on the Folder icon in the
navigation pane on the left, it shows you everything in your mailbox.

I would like to see my InBox, not just the folders; i.e., the Folder list in
the left pane, the actual list of received e-mails in the center pane, and a
view of my appointments for today in the right pane (which is currently only
used to show Help stuff).

You can use Outlook Today, just as was in use before.

Outlook Today does not allow you to see your list of e-mails in one pane
while you view your appointments for today in another pane. It just gives
you a link to your InBox. Previous versions of Outlook allowed you to
configure a single view, or instance, of Outlook, which enabled this exact,
and convenient, configuration. Outlook 2003 does not appear to have this
feature, unless I am missing something.
