Displaying New mail Message

How can I get outlook 2003 to give me a message on my screen letting me know
that new mail has come in? I have gone through all the options and
preferences, and I can't get it to work.

When I check my settings they are exactly as you suggest however, a new mail
alert only pops up once - if I say okay and get another message after that,
no new message alert pops up. What can be done about inconsistent message
alerts?
