displaying template in use

Is there a way i can display the template in use for a particular document I
am in? I would like it to be visible somewhere all the time, but just
calling it up would be okay too.

Now that you solved my first problem, i can do what i need to do.

File | Properties. The Summary tab (which is displayed by default) shows
which template is attached. I put a button for this on my toolbar for easy
access.

i see where it is, and I can also put a "properties" pick on the toolbar,
but not just "summary" or "statistics" ... or can I?

No, the button is for Properties, but the Summary tab appears on top by
default.
